2. information from people arrested by the TNI with the aid of the populace
reveals that the Dutch are supporting bands of robbers. One TNI company
cleared the area of Krawang and the area east,of Bogor of several gangs
of robbers led by Pal Pedet and I-Iadji Ulit. At this time much evidence
fell into the hands of the TNI which indicated that these bands were
working for the Dutch. any members of these gangs escaped to Dutch-
controlled territory.. They have been armed and sent back into villages
to continue robbing and destroying property. They are wearing TNI
uniforms
Dutch propaganda has not been able to influence the population .,,hich
has confidence in the TNI. The will of the people to gain their inde-
pendence is not lessened by Dutch propaganda even when force is used
to carry out the separation-policy which the Dutch have adopted, ?
4, ? The story circulated about Major Acheuad Wiranata Kusuma is an example

5.. Generally, the confidence of the people in the Republic and independence
has increased because of the inhuman measures adopted by the Dutch" The
entire- population in certain areas considered strategic by ttie Dutch has
been removed and replaced by pro-Dutch people.
6. The Dutch carry out their propaganda by increasing the materialistic sense
o the people, All necessities are supplied by the Dutch military author
ities. These people are propagandized by the Dutch especially in areas
;round estates, for example, in Subang (Pamanukan and Tjiasem estates),
Garut, boreang and Chianjur. Many estate workers, however, are grateful
to the TNI for protecting them from paying extremely high taxes and excise,
tihicL they formerly had to pay,
