Dr. Engelbert Besedn jak, who once represented the Slovenes in the Italian Parliament, had not returned to Miren (south of Gorica) but had been summoned by the Yugoslav Goverment to Belgrade, possibly to join in the rumored consultations between Marshal Tito and the Yugoslav opposition leaders. 2. In view of the,recent increased pressure on the Catholic Church in Yugo- slavia as evidenced by the suppression of the Easter holiday celebrations and the trial of seven Jesuit priests in Ljubljana, source expressed some doubt that the Regime would be disposed to consult with clerical-oriented elements such as Besednjak.
