1. Robert Rossak, Austrian Communist and USIA personnel officer, stated on 14
June 1949 that Dznitri Sidorov, Soviet Director of the USIA Construction and
Building Materials Administration was preparinr:, to establish a firm in
Vienna to handle Ul>IA exports to Italy, the 3alkans, and ! Festern European
eountriesw. Accordant, to Posoak, this exrlort firm will be established in
the near future an-? trill start operatiinr? Taken USIA is dissolved. Rossak
is allegedly trying to hire a correreia3 agent to travel in the Balkans;
at the sane tine he claims no knowledge of the details of the Firm's functions.'
2. Rossak also stated that USIA plans to reduce the staff of the USIA-controlled
Bahnbedarf A.C. to ten to twenty persons under the supervision of one forer n.
The reduced staff is to handle only heavy equipment repair cork.*'
