increased party activity is forecast, to ;tether with a purge of unre-
liable ele'ients, and an intensification of ideolo.ical instruction and
primary cell formation. The ,goal is reportedly a nen ership of 12,(10
in 1 angcon district by the end of the year; Comr nIsts in itan loon have
been instructed to collect .intelli,;ence abcut lovernvnent forces and
officials and their movements, and to attempt penetration of 3overnr,.-8nt
depart=cents and public utilities. Unconfirmed reports indicate the
possibility that the I3CP has a center for Tapper Bur:ta.
2. The Central Committee of the BCP has issued a directive that the Karen
de-land for a separate State should be opposed on the ground that, it
would ensure a pear:anent schism between the Karens and the 3urmnese.
