1. The appointment of Marshal Rokossovaky as Minister of Defense in Poland has'
intensified the bad morale of the Bulgarians. The Bulgarians feel that the
recent arrests is placing the country under complete Soviet damin.ation0 In
view of the purges that have been carried cut there are few elements let
in the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Ccur-uniat Party who resent thy., ex-
tent of Soviet control,

8. The purpose of the present trials is to discredit Tito and his regime k; order
to ore ate in the Bulgarians an atmosphere favorable for armed intervention in
YugoslaviaQ Collective action by all the satellites is not imperative The
pretext for action could easily be found in Bulgarian-Macedonia. Isere (stain-.
form strategy would be to coordinate internal opposition to Tito in adjacent
Yugoslav Macedonia with an overall plan of action already prepared by th.o
Soviet unions
4. In Bulgaria tt`ro-man teams are undergoing terrorist training. They will ontor
Yugoslavia clandestinely to assassinate personalities of the regime. and sabotage
