CLISTED BELOW) SUPPLEMENT TO REPORT NO. THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION A certain Subar (fnu), a former Yugoslav Partisan major who was much decorated for his activities when fighting with the resistance, is currently leader of a group of approximately 50 Cominformists. This group operates from a base in the Papuk mountain range, north of Slavonska Pozega near the Hungarian border. 2. subaris group conducts sabotage and terrorist raids as far as KSoprivnica, Djurdjevac, Bjelovar, Velika Pisanica, Daruvar, Podravska Slatina, Orahovica and Valpovo. This group, which has a wireless transmitter set, receives its supplies from Hungary, the supplies being dropped by parachute over the base. The group also sends couriers across the Hungarian border near Barna (sic), northeast of Daruvar. 3. The group mainly attacks police stations, electric power installations, and small isolated detachments of Yugoslav soldiers. So far, all efforts to wipe out the group have met with little success because it has terrorized peasants in the area to such an extent that the latter are afraid to report the group's location to Government troops., I. Another group, somewhat smaller, operates near Ivancica, southeast of Varazdin, and is under the command of a certain Pero Piha, an un- scrupulous Slovene who was formerly a Partisan. This group comprises several deserters from the Armed Forces and KNOJ and terrorizes the countryside principally for personal gain. 5. A third group of about 20 Cominformists is operating from Vucja mountain southwest of Banja Luka, and is under the. command of a former Greek guerrilla. This group is allegedly equipped with wireless transmitter sets.
