I The airfield northwest of SThIGAIT (49 o5OTE/4Q025rbtXTranscaucasus
MD)., west of the railroad lime, was 6,600 feet square and had
25X1 four hangars, each about 330 z 135 feet. The hangars were
skeleton steel struott'ros, covered with concrete slabs, and had
25X1 arched roofs of the same material., An administration building
and a? workshop were in line with the hangar frontage,, The field
had no concrete r riway or stationary DF station. Mobile. radio
stations were parked at all four corners of the field.
2,,. About 250 modern fighters, with radial and in--line engines, and
some twin" engine aircraft we stationed at the field. The
fighters were similar to the L2e-109, but had more pointed

Comment:
port generally agrees with .numerous other reports coversing a
ac=re recent period. From observations made up to September
19(i8 the following are assumed to be stationed at the heavily
oc-? ipied SW GAIT field:
a,., A fighter unit, about three regiments, presumably equipped
with aircr ft of some YAK type
b. A bomber unt.t ; about two regiments, taking day and night
f lying training,,
c. A transport regiment equipped with Li -2s.
