Large-scale movements of troops, mostly by motor vehicle
and train from the south towards PfERLEBT RG (M 54/T 70) at
night, were- observed In the WITTENBERGE area.

tanks and about 25 escorting tank-troopers passed through
S?iITT'-N!BER GE? Xha trains came from the direction of STENDAL
(M 53/Y 85),
c, Several empty trains, each with 40 to 4-?'r5,, 15 and 35-ton
flatcars, cozlinA from the north, passed throua,h W1TTE1 BERGE
and cone-I ued towards STENDAL. More empty flatcars, in groups
of 15 to 25, were included in transient freight trains.

units were held in the T.AVI?TBERG (::! 53/Y 07) area ore 3 October
194:4. The involved units were said to consist of trained per-
sonnel and very young; so1dic!rs at a 50:50 ratio. The troops
wore wI.Lite bands around their caps; the motor vehicles had

The maneuvers were said to 8imUlate "the disenr a?event from
the ene.:iy". Special efforts was raFide ~o take advantage cg'
all possibilities of amouflane, also with regard to heavy
weapons. he truck was repeatedly seen.

division level, were conducted in the area south oV southeast
of 4-1TTENDEl 4E (HAVELBER3 area or northern sd?;e of Letzling
Heath early October 1949. most of the observed noto

were seen with the maneuver forces. The maneuvers are assumed
