THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
Five pits of the i:;urako Sredisce Coal ,.sines are located at the
intersection of the main hi.,hvrays leading from :.1ursko Sredisce
to Cakovec and to Ljutoraer. The pits bear the following names:
Prvi 'ia,j; Udarnik; Josip; Nova Cerovka and Stara Cerovka.
2. The :nines employ 1700 :miners and 180 other employees, with the
work divided into throe shifts. The gaily output of coal is from,
20C to 250 tons. LTaehinery operating in the mines is run by
electricity. The mine's electric po~:er station sup ,lies the
electrical energy with two 250 CV (sic) generators.
3. The pits are connected by a narrow gauge railroad r:hich runs as far
as the ,..ursko Sredisce railroad station, from where the coal is further
transported into the interior of the country. The mine operates 14
trucks.
The following buildings have been constructed: one electric power
station; two buildings of the mine directorate, containing offices; a
?ara-e; a buildin; containing a mechanical workshop for 60 technicians
effect Ln_g repairs to machinery anc: tools, and buildings of the railroad
station belon;in_; to the :iiines.
At a 2CC meter di,twice from the railroad station there is a large
naphtha reservoir, 25 meters hL ;h and 10 meters in diameter, as veil
as four small reservoirs,. 10 r:motero hi-7h and 5 motors in ciiametor.
Six a:ditional underground reservoirs for Army use are located at a
,mall distance from these, and have the scato d mensions as the other
four reservoirs. All reservoirs arc, co..aectod ..ith the naphtha conduit
lcauin,, from, the vi i la ;e of l etisovci.
6. Fifty ilitia-Lion are in charge of protect]-on and surveillance of the
entire ro ject , and are housed in small barrac:is alongside the other
buildin_s. Director cf the mines is n gineer !)Jura Caraj. Josip
Vuckovic end Simon Zivkovic are the engineers.
