At a recent unspecified date, Bangabasi Collerre, 25/1 Scott Lane, Calcutta,
was closed indefinitely because of a bomb explosion on the campus
Of the approximately 6,000 students at the college, over half are said to
be fellow travellers,.
Kalyat Dutt, former professor of Economics, has been dismissed, while three
other :nembors of the 1.3angabasi faculty, Professor Sitansu P.'.oitra, Bro jend-.
ralal Saha and Dr, Karunamoy ".:ukherji have been threatened with dismissal.
All three of the latter are active members of the Friends of the Soviet
Union. Professor Nloltrp has been blacklisted by the Calcutta police. Dr.
i;'ukherii, alone with a Professor Nirendranath Roy of the college, is under
police surveillance.
