N. R. Sarkar, Finance Minister of the Government of Teat Bengal, began his
career as a clerk in the Hindustan Cooperative Insurance Company (HCIC),.
He obtained this job with the help of an HCIC employee, one Suren Tagore,
a relative of the great Indian poet. By trickery and dishonest intrigues
Sarkar rose to become managin director of HCIC. His intrigues resulted
in the dismissal of his former benefactor, Tagore, as well as several other
associates in HCIC.
