The Playa and Doblara power plants on the Soca River were turned over to
Yugoslavia by the Peace Treaty with Italy. These plants were formerly
operated on behalf of Italian industry, and it was therefore necessary to
construct a highLvoltage transmission line to carry this power from the
western to the eastern framework of power plants. Changes were also
necessitated by the fact that electric power in Italy is of 42 cycles
whereas it is of 5o cycles in Yugoslavia.
2. The high line, about 80 kilometers in length, was completed in October
1949, and carries power at 110 KV to Ljubljana, where a converter has
been built to convert the frequency from 42 to 50 cycles.
