1.
In order to economize in fuel expenses for trucks, buses and tractors, the
Yugoslav motor industry has initiated a project concerned with the con-
version of motors so that they can run on gas supplied by gas generators.
2. The TO automobile factory has been entrusted with the task of constructing
such gas generators, and in the past year the following models have been
produced:
Guslof - for wood and peat. It has a special compartment for drying humid
pieces of wood. It is particularly suitable for tractors.
Janka - for wood.
Visko - for wood and hard coal.
Mercedes-Benz - for hard coal.
Krenig - for brown coal.
Dekozen - for wood. It is particularly suitable for passenger automobiles,
3. In the meantime, a license has been purchased for the con-
struction of gas generators of the Imbert modes. Mass production of this
type of gas generator has begun in the TAM factory. The Imbert gas
generator is cylindrical with a double surface cover (sic; possible
iniulated, double walls). At the bottom are a grate and ash box. The
furnace is made from high temperature steel. The periphery of the furnace
has air holes for the air which comes out of the chamber (sic). The air
enters the chamber through an opening on the surface Of the generator,
which is shut ley means of a lid. The generator is lighted through this
opening?
4. Research and tests have proven that motors use up the following per hour
for a given horsepower:
a. Petroleum (benzine) approximately 0.3 liters at 10 dinars
Wood approximately 1 kg. at 1 dinar per kilogram
Lignite approximately 1.1 kg. el,

Brown coal approximately 0.9 kg. at 1 dinar per kilogram - 0.90 dinar
Peat .2 kg. at 0.5 dinar per kilogram 0.60 dinar
Wood coal (sic) approximately 0.4 kg at Is dinars per
kilogram - 1.60 dinars
b. If a motor run on petroleum (benzine) has been altered so that it
can use hard fuel, then instead of one liter of petroleum, one of
the following is necessary:
Wood 2,5 kg. at 1 dinar per kilogram - 2.5 dinars
Lignite 2.75 kg. at 0.60 dinar per kilogram - 1.65 dinars
Brown coal 2.3 at 1 dinar per kilogram - 2.30 dinars
Peat 3 kg. at 0.50 dinar per kilogram - 1.50 dinars
Wood coal (sic) 1.33 kg. at 4 dinars per kilogram - 5.32 dinars
S. Trucks are used on an average of 80 kilometers daily, i.e. 2,400 kilometers
a Month. If a truck uses up 30 liters of petroleum per 100 kilometers, the
monthly expenses for fuel would amount to:.
Petroleum (benzine) 720 liters at 10 dinars - 7,200 dinars
Wood 1,800 kilograms at 1 dinim? - 1,800 dinars.
This means that the monthly saving per truck would amount to 5,400 dinars,
and the yearly saving to 614,800 dinars.
