1. The 64th Infantry Battalion (Army Unit No. 4500) has its headquarters at
Pobezovice (1150/F61), -Allah is situated southwest of Horsovsky Tyn.

2. A school for non-commissioned officers of the 64th Infantry Battalion is
located at Sy. Kriz. The training term lasts from 15 November to the end
of March.

3', From 15 June 1949 to 15 August1949, the 64th Infantry Battalion was stationed
in the training center at Kunzvart. The troops were quartered in tents in the
woods near the village of Studanka. On 27 July 1949, reserve troops arrived
at the Kunzvart training center, joining the 64th Infantry Battalion in maneuvers
which mere begun on 5 August 1949 at Horn], Lazy and were endod on 15 August 1949
at Sandberg. The Air Force also took rart in thesernneuvers, and Polish, Soviet,
and Bulgarian officers, as well as officers of the Staff Officers Se-ool, were
present. At the conclusion of the maneuvers, the battalion returned to its
headquarters.

ins attached as headquarters company to the headquarters of the 11th Division,
Mem. Commanding this division is onel GS Patera, and its Chief of Staff
is Lt. Colonel GS Carsky (also %no as Cljthanel).

5. The following conpanies are components of the 64th Infantry Battalion:
a. The 1st Infantry Company (K-12) is stationed at the Old School in Bela
tad Radbuzou (N50/P71). Raton:minding Officer is Lt. Vendetta Ralik
who has been promoted from warrant officer; he was formerly stationed
at Terezin. The company is composed of two platoons having a total of
56 man and commanded by cadets. Its equipment includes the followings
16 light madhine guns, model 1926, 20 rounds
Mauser rifles, 7,92 mm
Sub-machine guns, 7.62 mm, 30 rounds, Russian made
Supplementary ammunition, consisting of 30 cartridges for rifles
and 150 cartridges for sub-machine suns; this is stored in boxes on
the ground of the barracks.
The K-12 Infantry Company serves as a supporting unit for the Frontier .
Platoon of the SNB at Eisandorf and Flee. When the Company goes into
action, a truck from Pobezovice transports it to the required area, and
during the alert period this track remains with it. During September .
1949, the Company assisted the Frontier Units of the MD as follows:
four soldiers from Pobezovice to the SUB Platoon of the Frontier Unit
at Rybnik; five soldiers to the SNB Platoon of the Frontier Unit at Pies;
three soldiers from the Bela tad Radbuzcu garrison to the SNB Platoon of
the Frontier Unit at Eisendorf.
b. The 2nd Infantry Company (K-14) is located at Hostoun (1151/i68). This
company is quartered in the former courthouse, where the local National
Committee also has its offices. Lt. Jaroslav jelinek is Commander of
the K-14 Infantry Company; he was graduated from the Military AcadelY
in 1947. Commanders of the platoons in this company are also cadets,
and the equipment is like that used by the lot Company.
c. Z-20 is a machine gun company, located at Ujezd Sv. Krize, Its Commander
is let Lt, Ivan Maruskey; its Deputy Commander is Lt. Augustin Klima, who
finsihed his Military Academy training in 1947. The Z-20 Company is com-
posed of four platoons, each of which is divided into three sections. Each
section is supplied with a machine gun, type "CZ-37"? caliber 7.92 mm..
d. K-16, a thud. infantry company, and T-40, a heavy arms company, are sta-
tioned at Pivon, which lies southwest of Pobezovice. The T-40 Company is
?comanded by Lt. Stradal, who left the Military Academy in 1947.. This
company is made up of two platoons, commanded by cadets:
1) One platoon with two 45 mm guns having long barrels and of Russian make.
2) One mortar platoon with four 80 mm mortars, German make, weight of mine
bsina 3.5 kgs.
e. Unit 7-35 is a headquarters company, stationed at Pobezovice; its Corimanding
Officer is St/Captain Situ The company consists of:
1) One engineer, platoon.
2) One signal platoon.
3) One headquarters platoon (clerks, etc.).
4) One supporting platoon (drivers, cooks, etc.)
f. Unit 1)40 is a battery for infantry guns and is stationed at Pobszovice.
Its Commanding Officer is St/Captain Honzik, its Deputy Commanding Officer,
It. Dvorak, who left the 6itaxy Academy in 1947. The unit consists of:

1) One platoon with two 76 mm guns having a short barrel and of Russian
make.
2) One platoon with two 120 mm mortars of Russian make, mine weighing
. 16 kgs.
g. A sub.-machine gun conpany is also stationed at Pobazovice.
6. The ammunition dump of the 6Ath_infantrv Battalion is located near a forester's
house in the woods north of Svrzno, which is 5 kms, southwest of Bela nad Rad-
buzou and north of SchlOssenberg. This ammunition dump was completed in Auguet
1949 and is comrosed of one large bunker and two small ones. Here are stored
the cartridges for rifles, guns, and machine guns, and mortars, and other weapons
which the battalion uses. The dump is guarded by one .guard, who comes alternately
from the garrisons at Bela, Hostoun? and Ujezd Sv. Krize,
7. At Eisendorf and in the direction of Dianabarg and Pies, soldiers of the 64th
Infantry Battalion are building ditches, four meters wide and deep, at Eisen-
dorf (north and south of the pond) and will later construct ouch,. ditches at
Pies and Svarcava.?
8. Ninety per cent of the man of the K-12 Company are opposed to the present regime,
and in the event of war, nost of them mould desert to the western armies.
9. At Bela-nad Redbuzou, a local militia has been formed. Two members of the militia,
armed with rifles, guard the community during the night. Their duties are to check
and detain suspicious parsons and to hand over such individuals to the SNB.
10. The sector of the 64th Infantry Battalion within the ZPU (Border Territory Security)
-
includes Rozvadov in the north to Nemanice in the south. On the north, the battalion
adjoins the 18th infantry Regiment from Tachov? and on the south, it adjoins the
35th Regiment from Domazlice.
11, Since 1 October 1949, the strength of the forces in the Frontier Units has been
increased, and the 64th Infantry Battalion was reinforced from fifty to one
hundred per cent.
12. Headquarters at Pivon is headed by Lt. Colonel Luznicky, who was formerly Deputy
Commanding Officer of the 64th Infantry Battalion. Re is assisted by a small
staff and is probably engaged in fortification work.
