are usually dispatched for propaganda sorties along the
,iest Berlin sector boundaries. The EN propaganda teams
are accompanied by some criminal police or AK-Section
personnel for protection and by some SED propagandists,
mostly from Saxony. At major rallies, e.g., at the 10
itiarch rally when Gerhard Eisler spoke,
among the demonstrating masses well-known Communists and
leading criminal police and AK-Section officers, such as
Schwan ( AK-Se c ti on Chia f ) Tschechlok, Franke, Rehberg,
and Kaaros, who presumably were to match the reaction of
the masses and spot any anti-Coramunists.
3. Propaganda orators made the most of the disadvantageous
events in destern Geraany (such as the Saar issue, dis-
mantlings, unemployment, refugee problem, etc.) and did
not fail to impress the riasses.
4. The nationalistic propagarda slogans of the liational Front
affect the. masses of the youth that are easily filled with
enthusiasi and min over many adults to the belief that the
masses of the East, organized under the leadership of the
Soviet Union, will come out strongest and will therefore
be the potential ally in the struggle for freedom of
Germany.
