The following information on a Cheb (N 51/F 37) infantry battalion up to 21 February 1950 was obtained.:- 50X1-HUM b. Quarters : Heavy weapons comrany in the Obertor Barracks Two submachine gun companies in the "U Striae" billets. No.further data on other component units. c. Officers : CO : Col Josef Hendrych Dpty CO : riaj Safranek d, Armament The heavy. weapons company consists of : (1) One mortar platoon equipped with four 120-mm mortars mounted on small carts, drawn by four horses each, (2) One AT platoon equipped with four Soviet 76-mm AT guns, dram by four horses each. (2) e. Nationality and political attitude : Seventy percent of the bat- talion's NU were Slovaks, 30 percent Czechs, About 50 percent of the EU were Communists. Names ?Toppi- diers who deserted to Germany have not been meftioned in the battalion orders since 1 January 1950.
