Leon Jean-Baptiste Feiz, previously reported as the official representative of the
French Communist Party (FCP). in French llorth Africa, is now a member of the FOP
Central Comnitteea He was born on 10 June 1908 at Forges (Gorreze) in France,
lie was formerly a teacher and a manager of an agricultural cooperative in the Lot
department, Feix left the Section Franeaise do l'Internationale Ouvriere (SFIO)
in 1935 in order to join the FCP, He is considered to have been the founder of
the FCP in the Lot department where he was Federal Secretary before the war, As
a reserve officer in 1939, Feix was assigned to the General Staff of the 17th
military region, lie was arrested in October 1940, and interned at the Nexon camp,
the Bossuet Redoubt, and, finally, in Oran,
2a Sometime in 1941-1942, Foix escaped from prison, lie subsequently became liaison
agent between the FCP in Algeria and the Algerian Communist Party.
3o Leon Feix has made a few unpublicized visits to the Lot department since the
Liboration, but source claims that most people have now forgotten him as the
promoter of the Party in that area, He has recently returned to Lot for a visit,
FCP circles are now speculating on the possibility that he my run for mayor of
Saint-Cere,
