The following Eiupplementasy info r ? tion has been obtained on Kiernan Feliu
Urbina previously reported as a possible Argentine propaganda agent in Chile*:
1. In about 1949, Feliu took advantage of an old friendship with Manuel Trucco
Gaete, Sub:-Secretary of Foreign Relations, to ask him for letters of recorr>=
mendation to the Chilean Embassy and Consulate in Buenos Aires, Trucco
allegedly did not give Feliu the requested lettors but instead suggested what
he considered a better form of recommendation by providing Feliu with certain
documents from the Ministry for delivery to the Chilean Embassy in Buenos Aires,
Feliu let his errand be known to his acquaintances, and Nestor Lima Quintana,
Argentine Cultural Attache and suspected Argentine intelligence officer in
Chile, soot. heard of l-itn,
2, Lima Quintana, apparently not aware of Feliues rather shady background, began
to cultivate Feliu as a possible political. informant. It is believed that some
agreement between the two was made,, since Feliu immediately began to demand
large sums of money in the form of advance salary payments and payment for his
transportation to Buenos Aires? However, Feliu either was not hired by the
Embassy, or, more probably, was fired immediately after he reached an agree-
ment with Lima Quintana, when Feliu-s background became known? It is not known
whether Feliu ever actually worked for the Argentines.
3. Feliu is now employed by the ranpresa Salvatti in public relations work for the
Municipal Theater in Santiago, He is said to be private secretary to Claudio
Arrau, the Chilean pianist who had endorsed the :vro-.Eleace movement in Havana
and Caracas, and later repudiated any connection with the movement during his
recent visit to Chile,
