Sophon forestalled a strike temporarily by informing the committee that he would attempt to borrow the money to oay the salaries in arrears. Luang Thawin ~etaphanitchakarn, manager of the Daily Mirror, has attempted to improve the financial standing of the paper, He states that he has lost approximately 80,000 baht, exclusive of his investment in the English type for the Daily Mirror. A new newspaper, the Bangkok Sun, has been rjgistered with Thai authorities, but has not yet begun publication. k'rancis JJ, a former staff member of Denocrac , is atte;pting to get the Bangkok Sun in publication, but has had little success thus far. - '?? 6.
