25X1 X Reportedly, Yugoslav border unite along the Austrian border have recently
changed their attitude toward Austrian border authorities. They have be--
come extrly friendly and congenial, endeavoring in every way to
maintain good relations with the Austrian border authorities. Thus when
the Austrian border police recently patrolled the border at Langeck, the
Yugoslav captain emerged in spite of the fact that he was not called and
asked them whether everything was in order. The Yugoslav captain further
added that in case of any complaints the Austrian border police should
report theca to him imediately and he would undertake to make the necessary
corrections. "We wish to cooperate with you in the general interest," he
told the Austrians. This represents the first instance of a changed
attitude on the part of the Yugoslavs. Previously, when the Austrian border
police would request to see the Yugoslav officer, the latter was neither
called nor would he appear, even if the matter were urgent. The Austrians
had always been advised to submit the matter through channels
