Between 13=18 July 1950,; five separpte Communist "flash" demonptr~-,tiona
occurred,; 3 in Buenos Aires and 2 In La Plates involving not more than 200
Individuals,_ Twenty?-two demonstrators were arrested and turned o'er to the
Seccion Especial of the Argentine Federal Police, The police had advance
warning of three of the demonetrs-tf.ons and were prepared to act quickly and
effectively to suppress thmm,
The chronological sequence of evente from 13 through 16 July 1950 hap been
reported as follows.,

Tigre area to discuss and organize "flash" Ptreet meetings protesting=

To avoid police. surveillance and interference, the Tigre meeting took the
form of e picnic group.,
Friday, 14 July 1950

to stage a tAflPeh" demonstration on the corner of Maipu and Corr! .entes.
The meeting wa:c promptly and effectively broken up by a large number of well-
armed police who threw a. cordon around the demonstrators" Five -:)eraons were

At 7,15 p..m.., a Co^muniat group of similar size (approximately f fty persons)
attempted to hold a street meeting on the corner of Cagle Caseror, and Calle
ioja in the Nt:rrio Pardue Fatriclon, A traffic officer tried t(break up
the demonstration and was severely beaten, as were two other officers who
,Eame to his aid? Shortly thereafter, fifteen additional police cfficer.s

44 in the city of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires, attended by an undisclosed
number of persons., Police arrived at the scene five minutes aft,~r the proceed-
