Pursuant to a decree signed by the Acting Linister of Labor and
Prime Minister Antonio Varona, in the absence of the Minister
of Labor, the offices of the Communist newspaper Hoy were taken
over by the Cuban government on 211 August 1950. 'i s action was
reportedly a Joint effort by the police, Army, and GRAS.
