1. The Cottbus (17, 52/A 57) airfield was not occupied by air-

2a From the intersecticn of the Spreewald railway and the high-
way to Burg,the southern end of the aasc-avast runway waa at a com-
pass bearing of about 260 degrees. Light poles stood
along the runway. The entire runway, including the old
section, was being; covered with a layer of concrete. The
eastern section was completed. The eastern and western
ends of the runway were about 100 meters wide and the
remaining section was narrower, Laborers said that the
work would be completed by September 1950, thus meeting
the target date set for 1 October 1950, : * No work was
