According to these percentages the CDIJ is to receive 8 seats in the
Llnderkammer, of which the Landeaverband Brandenburg receives 1
place by virtue of its membership. As candidate, the following name
is suggested:
III, Landtag: The proportion of seats for the Landtage (state assemblies)
the DDR. which will probably be decided in the next Land Bloc Ses-
sion, is as follows :

Cooperatives - 3%
By reason of the hitherto existing proportional strength of the par-
ties, a limited agreement is reached within the five Landtage which
in large measure corresponds to the above percentages. On the basis
of this agreement, the seats in the Brandenburg Landtag will probably
be divided as follows:

IVs rcr eistage (District Assemblies): On the basis of the I1nder
constitutions, the number of representatives in the districts
amounts to:
Up to 50,000 inhabitants - 30 representatives
Up to 70,000 inhabitants - 40 representatives
Up to 100,000 inhabitants - 50 representatives
Over 100,000 inhabitants - The basic 50 representatives, with
one additional for each 20,000 in-
habitants over 100,000
The distribution of the mandates follows the same percentage which
is valid for the Landtage, whereby in the event one of the organiza-
tions fails to make full use of its quota, the free mandates are to
be apportioned to the other organizations. On the basis of this
principle the following picture results:

In he selection o; candidates, the parties and organizations must
give attention to ';he professional composition of the popu:?ation. The
mass ? organization of the central bloc have declared themselves pre-
pared to present on their lists members of all parties to correspond
to the percentage albotted to each party. It is apparent that in the
mass organizations pnly party sympathizers can be suggested who have

commended that in the ore:entation of candidates contact be made in
due course with the District executive committees of the mass organiza?-
