NW AS 5 YJ5$. 4"NomeUP OR Oi T$is VU!? is i00NIFNt m SOURCE 25X1 1, North Korean troops attacking Yongchon on 5-6 September included 10,000 troops of the 15 Division, During the battle the 15 Division suffered a large (undetermined) number of casualties. 2s, The 15 Division left Hoeryong (129'445, 142-1.5) for the south on 16 June, The 8 Regiment carried three 120-mm, guns, ten 115-mm. mortars,,, six 76 . howitzers, and one unidentified gun, The division squad and assistant squad leaders were all Koreans who were formerly in the Chinese Communist Arty, The T/O of the North Korean 15 Division Artillery Regiment indicated that the original strength was comprised of 42 officers, 163 noncommis- sioned officers, and 313 soldiers. On 23 August the strength was comprised of 29 officers, 92 noncommissioned officers, and 209 soldiers. The 76 mm. gun company of this regiment originally included 6 officers, 20 noncommissioned officers. and 58 soldiers. Their weapons were four 76-mm. guns and 78 rifles and automatic rifles. On 23 August the total personnel was comprised of 41 officers and men, 25X1 The 120-mm. company of this regiment included a cultural (political) deputy company commander. His duties included charting the combat and T/j of the company. The company originally had six vehicles for hauling guns; by 23 August only one remained. 6. The regiment originally had the following weapons: 177 rifles, 151 cavalry rifles, 107 automatic rifles, 83 pistols, six 120-mm. guns, four 76-mm. guns, twelve 45-nm. guns,. twenty-seven 82-mmo mortars, and six machine guns.
