THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
On 25 August 1950, 240 political workers selected by the 2 Field Army for
work in Tibet arrived in ilankow from Shanghai aboard the vessel SSU LING*.
About thirty percent of the group were Chinese Communist Party members of
five years' standing; the remainder were young students recently
recruited. They were billeted in the China &erchanta Steam :Javi.gation
Company's number 10 Godown. On the evening of their arrival the officers
of the r1iuhan area welcomed them with a party at which toasts were drunk to
the successful "liberation" of Tibet.
2. On 27 August 1950 the group of political workers left Hankow and continued
their journey to the west aboard the vessel :ITT SH iG*.
