" THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
On 25 September 1950 it Was announced that the SS EMPIRE DIRK, Trinity
Company* agents, would depart for Dairen on 28 September? The cargo
included 355 coils of steel wire rope, valued at UK $400,000, and 4 oases
of medical supplies, valued at HK 4100,000. This shipment, from the
L etropolitan Commercial Company, Iiong Kong**, originated in Canton and
was destined for transshipment at Dairen for North Korea.
On 25 September 1950 the Nan Iisin Company*, a Chinese Communist purchasing
agency in Hong Kong, bought 9 0 tons of scrap iron. Of this, 450 tons were
purchased. from the Chieh ho ( "-) Iron and Steel Company, LIN Tzu-feng
(4 .. - ) manager, at U X14.20 per picul, a ton to equal 16 pioulsa
Five hundred tons were bought from the wing On Skiing Ship-
building Company*** at IIK ,14.00 per picul. The Chinese Communists
contracted with the Kuang iJari (J i ) Transport Company, Kowloon, to ship
the entire amount to Canton by rail o
