THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. The Air Force pursuit regiment in zemun was recently supplied with 18 new "8-49"
planes, which wore built in Yugoslavia. Each plane has a crew of five men.
2. The regiment at present has a total of 25 planes, of which 18 are "S-49", three
are YAK 9, and four YAK -3 planes.*
3. One of the YAK -3 planes attached to the regiment caught fire and crashed on
16 July 1950 in the Petrovaradin sector, killing the pilot. In May 1950, one
of the regimental pilots escaped to Ilungary, flying an unspecified plane. Of
late the regiment has been in a state of strict preparedness.
4gMLU: It is questionable that either YAK-0, or YAK.-3 planes are attached
to this regiment. During the ceremonies on "Yugoslav Air Force Day", 21 May 1950,
in which this regiment participated, only 5-49 planes were observed.
