THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. No precise information is available concerning the reported personal
rivalries among ranking officials of the Rumanian Government.
2. Although the Rumanian public does not know which Communist official is
actually dominant in the regime, it is certain that Prime Minister Petru
Groza is only a figurehead without prestige. It is reported that on at
least one occassion Groza intervened in a most subservient manner with
Teohari Georgesoug ;'inister of Interior, on behalf of a relative who had
been placed under arrest, but his request was abruptly turned down by
G eorg es cu.
:i. Reports that a trial of Lucre iu Patraseanu, former Coa:amunwist :.Inister of
Justice, will shortly be staged are again circulating. Patrascanu is
believed to be held in custody at Lake Snagov near Bucharest.
