a - meeting was held in Trieste of sectioKX1 X
oliticall, secretaries of the pro-Cominform (Vidali) Communist Party,
1. Korea: Coimaunists in Korea, who lack the fundamentals of a true Com-
mu sf education, have asked in recent times why the Soviet Union has
not intervened in the conflict as have the United States and Great
Britain. The question can best be explained by exposing the in-
filtration and subversi' ~ activity of the United States and British
intelligence service personnel in the Korean Communist Party. The
British and Americans are only too anxious to have the Soviet Union
become directly involved in Korea, but under no circumstances Will the
Soviet Union intervene even( if the Aniglo-Americans go beyond the 38th
parallel. The USSR will e:.-tend moral and other kinds of aid but will
not take direct part in the war.
2. Trieste: The Prefect, of Trieste, Gino Palutan, and all the right-wing
par ties are in favor of the Yugoslav proposal that a tripartite com-
mission be set up in Trieste composed of United States, British and
Yugoslav representatives. Palu.tan has requested the leaders of the
right-wing parties to try to convince all those interested that it would
be a just solution.
3. At the very last moment, Tito decided that he was not sati-Rfied with
this solution. The reason for his move is that he now has a new and
strong card in his hand,, He also still cherishes the hope that Trieste
will be annexed by Yugoslavia. Count Carlo Sforza, Italian Foreign
Minister, recently made a speech in Rune requesting that an end be put
to the talk on the Italian aspect of Trieste and Istria., Tito would
like to make the most of this declaration,,
4. It is the duty of pro-Cominform Comrcunists in Trieste to demand that
a motion be made at the United Nations assembly to make Trieste an open
city. They also should d.elaiand the enforcement of the Peace Treaty, and
protest against war provocation and international intrigue in Trieste,

5. The Demo-Christian, Republican and Socialist Parties have united to
demand that Trieste be made an open city. These Parties have also
adopted the Party line on the Workers' Cooperatives. The U.4ovimento
Socialista Italiano (MSI) and the Demo-Christian Party are at odds
over the Trieste question, and the MEST has declared that it helped the
I)emo-Christians to power and now the latter should do everything to
prevent De Gasperi from selling out the MSI to Tito.
6. Workers r Coa erativess Local Italian reactionaries have begun to
attack the clique of monopolizers at the head of the I;iorkers f
Cooperatives (Cooperative Operaie,. The Party had taken the initiative,
and when the imperialists became aware of it,, they turned to the
Sindacati Unici in order to prevent the workers, movement from becoming
involved,
7. The right-wing parties, the Demo-Christian and 143I in particular, do
not agree on the "Workers, Cooperatives and their dissension is "working
in favor of the Communist Party,
Party Buildings : The reactionaries have evolved a plan to deprive the.
Party of its headquarters, the workers' headquarters and the bui_? ding
of Party mass organizations., The Party should encourage the people to
support the plan to build a new and real Casa del Popolo in the center
of towns The construction of a real headquarters building for the
Trieste Communist Party is of prime importance.
