klograms, has been constructed at Maliq. Between 100 and 150 workers
are employed.

Lake .2 Reclamation
The. reclamation project at, Lake Maliq h succeeded in diverting the
waters of the lake through a 3 kilome- r canal to the Devoli River,
The. project was begun in 1946; in December 1949, feeder canals leading
to the main canal were still under construction. At the head op1he
canals a dyke has been constructed to regulate the flow of r. Built
of reinforced concrete, it is 50 meters long and has eight water gates.
The reclaimed area is to be used for the cultivation of beets and potatoes,
the former to be used for the sugar factory under construction in the town
of Maliq.
