1. On 14 October 1950 forrier General Vincenzo Yit tller stated that the fluselans
were planning a propaganda gesture in conjunction uith the 1U-Ger^r>,?an Peace
Congress scheduled for November. "Several hundred thousand" Soviet troops,
brought to GexxTiary during September 1950 for manoeuvres, will be returned to
the Soviet Union. Elaborate public cerononies hill be staged to mark the
departure of the troops.*
