1. Every Sunday in August 1950, the male population of Drabishna (sic) District
of Ivoilovgrad, was compelled to work along a strip of the Greek-Bulgarian
border situated about one mile east of the village. Under supervision of
the border guards, the Bulgarian side of the border was cleared of all trees,
bushes, and shrubs to about one hundred meters in deptho After the clearing,
a strip of land about thirty motors wide was plowed clean and holes, approximately
two feet deep, were dug at irregular intervals. A shrub fence was erected at
the lower and of the plowed land.
2. Mines were not laid in the presence of the laborers but everyone believed
that the holes were possibly intended for mines* and the purpose of the fence
was to keep stray animals from the minefields.
3. A border Zastava is located at the village of Slaveevo (sic). Its personnel
amounts to about one hundred men.**
