It was reported on 31 October 1950 that a Soviet division, fully equipped, was transferred by train from Poland to Hungary through central ST-ovakia. It en- tered Slovakia through the Cadca station and Hungary through the Parkas station, 3. On 13 November 1950 a Soviet armored division, complete with mobile r :Xpiir unit.; supply trucks, and tank trucks left Szeged for Timisoara9Rummmia. 4. Air movements of '.gar materiel and parachute troops to Albania through Stdapest continued during November. On 15 November it was reported that the 16th Soviet Airborne DivisionIF. has been transferred to Voszprem and Papa, from where it is to proceed to Albania. 5. During October many rail convoys passed through Budapest carrying war materiel and Soviet troops toward the Yugoslav frontier. The movements were cr'.iefly dur, ing the ni"ht. On 13 Hovember a large w'mber of empty buses and trucks were noticed passing along the Budapest-Belgrade super highway, headed in the direct":,-on of Szoged. The trucks (autocarri) were of Russian and. American make, the buses (torpedoni) of Hungarian manufacture. On 22 November it was reported that the rail station at Szob, on the Czech border, was to be closed to civilian traffic for a two-wek period for military reasons. Heavy troop, tank, munitions, and artillery traffic was noticed. The trains appeared to be heading in the direction of the Yugoslav frontier. 6. and partisan berets. On 6 October a large consignment of Hungarian grain was observed being transported to the Soviet Union under a convoy made up of Russian and Hungarian troops. b. A Soviet unit of about 500 men and 40 tanks arrived in Szombathely from Veszprerc in October. c. A convoy of 46 railroad care was observed at the Balatonf{red station (Y5/D66) going from Veszprem tov trd ICeszthe],y during October. Twenty- two self-propelled nuns and. 24 trucks ?ere also observed. d. To days after this movement another convoy of nine railroad cars. rre-- sumably carrying 35 tanks, and seven cars each carrying twr t nka of an undetermined type, were observed at Keszthely station. e. Approximately 18 tanka and six or oiryht trucks 'lore unloaded from a boviet convoy at Tapolca station in October. f. Soviet and Hungarian planes unloaded troops at the Budaors Airport, Budapest, in October. During the night of 4 foveribar intense rail traffic was observed in northern Iiuneary. 1i. On 4 November a Soviet infantry unit tas loaded on a train of 20 ears at I)ecs. I. On 21 1Tovember a Soviet arr..ored unit arrived at Szolnok by rail from Budapest. T-34 tanks and several anti-tank guns were loaded on the 30-car convoy at Szolnok. 90 the Russians are now putting greater emphasis on the t raining o a e ite troops.
