1o The technical air force school Was located about 2 km southwest of Nova Vileka
(540411 '?yf25?25' Lithuanian about 8 ,km cast of V9.lnyus (54040'11./2:10
168:1%), and about 800 meters west of a small village consistin of about 25 houses

3. The installation consisted of nine two-story barracks buildings, each of 25 x 12

the ground :floor. It large hall with a biplane in it wa.s also on the ground floor.
One of the nine barrac'cs buildings was occupied by 80 Soviet Air 1' orce personnel.
One captain, two -senior and two Junior lieutenants Were soon. The other per-
sonnel vier,., all .?COs who wore on their epaulets two or three yellow s ripes 1 cm
or one stripe 3 cm wide. Almost all of the soldiers wore war decorations.
The other barracks buildings wore occupied in ap .'roximatel;, the same way.
According to a Soviet guard,. the air ~.orco personnel sworn attending technical
training course{; at the installation. From conversations heard it seemed that
most of the soldiers were flying personnel. The ranking officers were captains,
Assembly work was porfoimed daily on the nine biplanes avail:;ble at the insti-
tute. The aircraft were occasionally sprayed with a gray-green acetone paint.
Technical and general instruction was given in the class rooms. The trainees
were from. 28 to 30 years of age. Soviet guard said t,,-,.at groups of trainees
were often sent, to factories to pick up spare parts.
