1. On the night of 15 December the 365 and 366 Regiments, 122 Division,
41 Array, left Canton. While the troops were at the railway station
some stated that they were going to Laipin (109-16, 23-42) by way of
Hengyang tolthe Indochina border.*
2. Canton is preparing for eeige and air attacks.** root of the surgical
apparatus of the Central Hospital has been shipped away. On 16 December
the archives of the Departments of Civil Affairs, Public Safety,
Education, Labor, and Agriculture were shipped by rail to Chouchiang
(113-33, 2i-50). The documents of the Kwangtung high courts were
shipped to Loehr i%ng (113-18, 23.-08).*** Some equipment was being
buried outside of Canton. All government buildings were being
3? buttressed with sandbags.
3. The 173 Division, 58 Arr.5r, is being sent from Kwangtung to Rnnlrow. The
troops are wearing the breast insignia of the Shanghai-Woo
Garrison.****
4. On 17 December Pecan (113-56, 22-32) was garrisoned by the Kwc.ngtung+-
Kwangsi Column for the most piert, augmented by some northern troops
revorted to be from units of the 3 Field 4rr.V in P' inghu (114-08, 22-41).
