Al.oue the niddle of November 1948, construction of a Skoda factory at Unicov
?ens -,tarted by the Proste,lov branch of the Czechoslovak Building Association.
Che factory 4as to cover an area of about one square kilometer and was to con-
sst of einht ferroconcrete halls of various sizes, one administrative build-
ing, and one building which was to serve as a personnel office. All the halls
were to have normal ferroconcrete foundations. Hall No. 2 was completed in nay
L950. and only the ferroconcrete foundations for halls No. 3,4,506,7, and 8 had
leen laid by that time. Nasonry work on ball 7To. 1, the administrative building
xnd the personnel buildine had been conrleted in 1949. The Vitkovice Iron -Forks
fIrn shed the steel re leired in the construction, but the steel from a dismantled
retrsry in l'otava was used for hall No. 1.

ehout 2,000 construction eorkers from Prostelov were employed,

Unicev was also built. The entire plant was surrounded, by a brick wall 4 m
