REPORT NO.
1. Fifteen North Korean divisions are being reactivated and reorganized in
Manchuria (exact location unstated).
2. The Korean commanders include the following:
CHIDE; Yong ken, Commanding General of the North Korean army.
KIM Ch'aek*, Political Commissar and former Vice-Premier.
KIM Chang-man., Chief of Staff,
3. KDt Ching-man,, who was appointed after the death of KANG K6n, was the
head of the North Korean Labor Party propaganda headquarters until 1948.
He served under KIM Muuchthng in China during World War II but was
relieved of his position because he was in disfavor with some Soviet-
born Koreans. He later regained Soviet confidence and was elevated to

^ k. Some Chinese and Korean Communists are dissatitified with the control
exercised by Soviet-born and Soviet-trained Communist leaders in Korea
and China. The movement against Soviet control. is led by General KIM
Mu-ch6ng and is supported largely by former members of the South Korean
Labor Party..
25X1A Como. KIM Ch?aek has been reported as the commanding
an organized guerrilla unit formed from remnant North Korean
.forces by-passed in South Korea in the UN September offensive.
