REPORT NO.
1. The Ivanovo coal mine is located approxtmately six kilometers southwest
of Zajecar,, and at the northeastern end of the village of Ljubnic?a.
The mine is connected with the Zvezdan loading station by an overhead
r=ope ay four kilometers long. The mine also has a road connection with
the ZaJecar?,..Boljeva.c-Ljubnica road.
2. The mine is administered? by the directorate of the Zajecar rros; which
is directly subordinate to the Ministry of Mines of the Republic of
serbl a in Belgrade?
The planned production figures for 1949 and 1950 are as follows:
19459 - 80. ,000 tons
1950 - 90,000 tons
The total output for 1949 was 78,000 tons. The total estimated reserves
are lay million tons of fair quality lgnite.
4, The mine output is consigned for domestic and industrial consumption in
Belgrade and Zajecar with the exception of 0 to 1$ tons a day which are
sent to the Zvezdan thereto-electric power station.

a. The overhead ropeway- connecting the rAne with Zvezdan was constructed
by a Hungarian firm in 1,947.

adjacent to the Zvezdan loading station.

6. The mine receives electric power from the station in ZZvezdan. The punt
is equipped with a single turbine of 1, 200 kilowatt capacity. A second
turbine of equal capacity is being installed at the plant, but completion
has been delayed owing to the non-availability of the transformer which is

operated at 125 volts.

Electrically operated cranes

b. The overhead ropeway is electrically operated and as a bunker of
2,000 tons capacity.
c. The separation plant is fully equipped v,rith electrically operated

d. The mine has its own workshops which include:
Turning shop, complete with frasing, boring and turning machin s.

e. The min?: owns s:. trucks of Skoda, Fiat and Praga manufacture.
These trucks are serviced in the mine garage which is fairly well
equipped.
8. The total number of employees is approximately nine hundred. The main
factor limiting production is the shortage of labor. The mine employs
an average of 5)0 forced laborers, all of whom are serving short-term
sentences. They are employed as miners, and allowed to move in the.
mine area freely. They are, however, required to report daily to the
Militia station and forbidden to leave their quarters after dark,
