a course for snipers of the 11th Infantry Division
was giv^ In uscova near Sol;olov (1151/P58). !Ibout 160 of the best shots of
the divis'on were sent to Hruskova to take the course, which was designed to train
snipers to pick off enerj troops in leading positions. During the course a special
Gerr=?~n a.utor-itic rifle, model 43N, was used with German or 3'eopta model 48 tele-
scopes. Tra.inng was given in firing at fixed and moving targets at distances
of frog 200 to 60f' meters.
2. The officer in charge of the snipers course was Staff Captain Ceech, CO of an
inf.n:-ry battalion,, unit no. 1102, in Bar (050/M31) near Tabor.* Cech had repre-
sented Czechoslovakia in the O1yr.~pic gn.rnes in London. His deputy was Lt. Podlejeuk,
a Ukra.ini an who had been a snirer in the Red Array during World War II.
