There are no uniformed Soviet troops in Varna or Burgas, although there are some Soviet civilian technicians in these two cities. Supplies of Soviet war materiel continue to be shipped quietly into Bulgaria through these ports. 3. Bulgarian Navy personnel are gradually changing into Soviet uniforms. For this reason many Bulgarians believe that there are Soviet naval personnel stationed in Bulgaria. 4. Nei Bulgarian torpedo boat crews are going to Ochakov, USSR, and bringing back more Soviet torpedo boats 5. The destroyer DI2:IITROV and gunboats topol, apparently for training and maneuvers. 6. The government is demanding greater production, but is withholding need grain. 2. There has been no seed grain or com neroial fertilizer available to the farmers for the past four years. 3. Most of the wheat collected in northeastern Bulgaria during September and October has been ruined by rain as it lay piled beside the railroads waiting for transportation. Rail transportation is very limited. Source estimates that 25 percent of the two months' harvest was lost in this manner. 4. In January 1951 increased tax demands were made by the government. Bulgarians have been forced to contribute money to aid their "Korean Brothers". On 15 January 1951 a huge "Peace Bond" drive was launched. This is similar to the Soviet lottery bond and everyone is forced to contribute. 5. Uranium ore continues to be loaded at Burgas.
