The Cultural Com- ission of the Bologna Federation of the Partito Corm..
nista Italiano (PCI; Italian Communist I-arty) sponsored and directed
the first Congress of Communist Intellectuals of Bologna on 10 December
1950, Intellectuals of other groups were also invited? The meeting
was attended by Communist intellectuals, a number of members of the
Italian Liberal Party.. and several members of the Italian Social
Movement, Among, those attending were Senator i mi1io Sereni, member
of the Directorate of the PCI, and Antonio Del Guercio, member of the
PCI Regional Committee for Emilia and responsible for cultural activi-
ties,:
