].a Following the a6gent of the Communist regi'iea all Rumanian sports associations
were dissolved ?md replaced by the goverment-controlled sportul Popular,
organized on a national basis. In additirn to sections devoted to normal
civilian spor,sp a special section was crated to promote target practice
with firearm . Only persons reccnm.ended }y PDCR (Partidul uncitoresc Roman
Rumanian a+o?cers Party) were adhaitted to iem.bership in this section. Instruction
was put in the hands of Soviet officers, !1ho also controlled the storage
and issue if weapons.
2. The pro-Tar Association of Rumanian duriars has been reorganized by the
Corasnuni-r % Government as a kind of adjure:t to the gendar ierie9 and placed under
the 1 e- dership ,of Vasile Luca, Minister of Finance. The Association has been
assign d the task of organizing weekly runts through the Carpathian mountains
with ','le purpose of finding any nationslist elements in opposition to the
Govertiaent which may take refuge there.
