6. In early Karol approximately 1,100 workers were constructing runways at
Mahsi.ang (118-14, 24-40) Airfield.***
12 Japanese-type 2iF:htors, 3 American-type planes, and. a
number of training planes were at Sanya (109-30, 18-16) Airfield; all
are being used by Viet Zainh pilots.****
50 Chinese Communist Air Force planes were at Lunghua Air-
field. Of these, 6 were ,je,a flown by Soviet pilots,,. and the remainder
were either Japanese or German planes flown by Chinese Communist pilots.
Red stars are painted on both wings of all. these planes. There were 30
air force transport planes at Chiangwan Airfield.,
approximately 200 Soviet technicians were at Shanghai air-
fields,, Approximately 60 of these were billetea at Broadway ruan.sionsa
and the remainder were billeted at various places in the Iiongkew and
Yangtzepoo Districts, Shanghai.
