measures taken to fortify the borders. The entire First Army, however, had
been in a state of preparedness since 10 December 1950, and telephones were
connected with Belgrade both day and night, while messages were sent concerning
the current statusa,

On 18 December 1950, two Soviet armored divisions and two Bulgarian 25X1X
motorized divisions in full military gear on the Yugoslav-
Bulgarian border in the Caribrod Sector. The tanks of the armored divisions
approached the border up to a distance of 100 meters and then halted with
their guns facing the border.
