(USTEU BELOW) SUPPLEMENT TO 25X1X REPORT NO. 25X1A THE FOLLOWING REPORT WAS PREVIOUSLY DISTRIBUTED AS " CIA PRELIMINARY about one thousand meters from the railroad station, is the location of a railroad spur for unloading gasoline. The pipeline can be seen extending; to underground tanks. It is believed that this gasoline is stored for use of the airfield in the Focsani area. Rumanian soldiers guard this area. gasoline is also stored at 7oita-i:oboe, three kilometers to the right of the railroad line Buzau,-Ramnicul Sarat, noar the village of 7oita0 The masoline is transported by railroad in barrels and then lorded on trucks 25X1A 5. At the boninninT of 200 Army trucks with Soviet troops, guns, camp kitchens were seen in Constanta en route toward Bulgaria. This is one of the largest dumps in Rumania. This dump is guarded by about three hundred Rumanian and Security soldiers. Railroad tank cars transport the Fasoline to this depot, from where a pipeline takes it to storage tanks. There is no fence around this area and no apparent fire protection devices. 2. 11asoline is also stored at 1'ascov. It is transported by railroad tank cars, unloaded 600 Meters from the Bascov railroad stations, and carried thence by pipeline to the storage area. This area is to the right of the railroad station facing in the direction of Pitosti. Only Rumanian soldiers r:uard this area, number not known. An entire train load of 60 tank cars can be unloaded at once. 3. No Soviet troops were noticed at Pitesti but the Soviet Command is in charge of the local railroad function. The Ru nian troops are not numerous. 9. At Orsiova Soviet troops were seen passing through to Calafat and Corabia..,There are Rumanian Army units in Creiova. 9. At Calarasi there are five or six Soviet barges destined for unloading at Silistra, Bulgaria. The cargo is unknown. 10, Turnu Serverin is patrolled by several Soviet and Rumanian units at night. No details are available. 11. At Buzau only Soviet Air Force units were noticed, Soviet Air Force personal wore seen at Foosani, plus other unidentified Soviet units, 13. At Tecuoi there are Soviet and Rumanian Air Faroe units. The airfield has one concrete runny. 14. A ne~v airfield is under construction near Trivalea, three kilos tatm west of Pitesti. In Gavana, near Pitesti; there is an important concentration of textile and tanning mills employing 4,500 workers. In Florioa (former Bratianu Estate) also near Pitesti, 50 apartment houses,-seven 'stories high, have been constructed. They are unoccupied at present. 15. There is a new road under construction from Cernavvoda-0vidiu, Havodari, and Murfatlar (Hasarabi ). Road repairs have been made on the Stalin (Brasov).. Pagaras and Conatanta.Cernavoda roads. 18. Nothing of importance was noticed in Caransebes and Ramnicul Serat. 17. Only military personnel are permitted near Orsova, of important tank and aircraft concentrations in this region. special travel permit was not valid here. 18. After the first extraction of grapes for wine, the remaining product is fermented to produce dro.e, which is bought by Centrocoop and resold to the Sovieb ,anion for further extraction of alcohol, and used for military purposes.
