1. Following the restoration of a company building in the western
section of the billeting area, the barracks installation in
8premberg (0 52/A 54) .,vas occupied to capacity by 1,000 to
1,206 troops on 7 Yarch 1951. 'l1 of the troons -ore red-bordered
black epaulets, including some s^rith tank ins,. gnia. Local resi-
dents also estimated the number of troops there at about 1,000.
Five T-34/85 tanks were seen in a lane of the -ioods bordering on
the railroad line. toward Schleife. Local Germans said that all
tanks recently observed in Spremberg R'ere of this type, 1?ihereas
heavy tanks had been seen at the post until the end of 1950.

installation. ?lowever, any tanks in that
portion of the billeting area which could be surveyed from the

tered in the numerous garages. .bout 30 trucks were noticed in the
billeting; area. There were no indications that infantry troops were

ecz Div is carried in Spremberg and was confirmed there until
22 January 1951. The observation of medium tanks in Spremberg
constitutes a possible indication that one battalion of the
91st Tank tegt, confirmed in Luebben, is stationed in Spremberg.
In February 1951 of more than 25 25X1A
T 34-85 tanks were observed in Luebben, and that the tank unit
in Luebben numbered not more than 400 men. y
