1. Between 2 Janurry and 12 Fpbruary 1951, the Fuesilier Kaserne in
Rathenaw (N 53/Z i5) quartered. about 800 troops who wore red-bordered
black epaulets, most of them with atillery insignia. Two 37-mm AA guns,
two searchlights of about 50 cm diameter, and four mortars of ab--*
120 mm caliber were observed in the billeting area. Small groups of
sol'aers received infantry training and practiced with the =Aerial men-
tioned. I
2. The F-ouler Kaserne was occupied by about 800 Iroops who wore red-bordered
black epaulets. NCOs wore artillery insignia. Four gun( X about 150 nm
caliber, towed by prime movers, left the installation toward Semlin.
Troops were seen at small arms drill and firing Practice in the barracks
yard.
3. The Kraftfahrer Kaserne quartered about 900 troops, who wore red-bordered
black epaulets, and a headquarters. Most of the soldiers observed wore
artillery insignia. About 30 officers were seen. Troops were drilling
with four 150-mm how;teers and two long-barreled 150-mmguns. *
4. The Ziethen Kaserne quartered about 600 troops wearing red-bordered black
epaulets, with only officers and NCOs wearily; artillery insignia. Since
theywere',..ximarily engaged in infantry training, the troops seemed to be
recruits. No heavy weapons were observed. The barracks installation also
housed a ration supply unit, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel-Ilizukovski
(fnu), which received shiments of canned foods

or backs. These were the size of a German model Volksempfaenger radio set.
Reio communication was apparently maintained while the troops were marching.
Only telephones were formerly seen in the barracks installation. Motor

were parked in front of the installation. Uetor vehicles
were in the billeting arca.
