1. Soviet officers are now conducting courses at the Graf' Ignatiev airfield
to train Bulgarian pilots for jet aircraft.
2, Construction is being rushed on a new airfield located between the villages
of Slakovtsi and Mirovyane near Sofia. Seven thousand decars of land are
being improved for ttis purpose.
3. Sofia is entirely surrounded by anti-Aircraft batteries. About 8 April
the Dupnitsa anti-aircraft regimpnt arrived in Sofia. The largest guns,
88 mm.? are located to the right of the "cross" in Lozenets? *-
4. There are many tanks stationed in Breznik. A cavalry unit and a mortar
unit are stationed at Opitsvet.
5. It is reported that a mar psychosis is maintained among the citizens of
Sofia by the continual troop Yovements.
6. With the abandonment of the coupon system for nany consumer items,
prices reportedly have gone up. For example, shoes Which cost 2400
levas under the coupon system, and 7000 levas on the black market, now
cost 6000 levas in regular trading.
