20 The location of the school, which is disguised as the Edgar Andre wr Recreation
Center, is regarded as a secret by the SED and students are threatened with ex-
pulsion from the Tarty if they compromise the location or communicate with their
homes while atendire: the school. The installation is enclosed by. two fences,
which are more than two neters high, and between which several watch dogs are
placed at niFht.
3. The instruction courses conducted at the schorl include 6-week courses known as
"Zirkelleiter Lehrgaenge" which are for young Communist functionarieskand 3-week
courses for top staff KPD functionaries. Students are selected by the KPD Landes-
leitungen in 'eestern Germany and are admitted to the courses only after having
been approved by the SED Central Comeitee in Berlin, The "Zirkelleiter Lehraaenge"
are normally attended by about 150 students and the courses for top functionaries
by about 30 .students. All of these students are required to submit completed
political questionnaires which, together with photograph and forefinfer print,
are submitted to the SED Central Committee in 73erlin. Students from the ..Western
Zones of Gerrany are advised that their statements will be subject to investlaation.
4. The rainingschedule of the school includes lectures by Yoscow-trained lecturers
on the developrent of Earxism, Leninism and Stalinism and on civics, dealing wit-.
subjects such as the essence of the state and its functions, origin and develop.-
rent of the forms of the state, the bourgeois-democratic state and the socialist
state. The schedule also provides for self-study in connection eith the subjects
treated by the lecturers, group discussions dealing with timely topics and ?

In the course
the discussions on toaics of tseeely interest emphasized the importance of 50X1-H UM
cooperation between the KPD and th( SPD and the students were urged each to
recruit one Social Democrat for the unification drive. In connection with his
program they were told that a school was established in lines, Forest,
Juete-bog (II 52/3 69) for the express reiroese of familiarizing Social n.eleicr?
from the :;cretern Zones of Germany with SED installations. I was said that about
3,000 SPD ers from the 7iestern Zones had already attended the school,

members and prominent personalities who fled to the ,:estern Zones of Germany.

crossed the zonal border nenr Duderstadt (L 52/C 72) and proceeded
on mot to the collection point for all students which as located in 7,;orbis
(Y 52/C 81). From there they were ttlken 17 bus to the Edgar Andre VVN
Recreation Center,passing through Berlin en route.
